Keynote – Empowering Canada’s Farm Women
Speaker: Andrea Gal of Farm Management Canada.
Much has been said about the experience of women in farming, but little has been measured. Andrea will share insights from groundbreaking new research that sheds light on the unique experiences of farm women while drawing on her personal experience in managing her family farm. She will discuss the challenges farm women continue to face and highlight opportunities to foster a transformative shift in the industry to empower Canada’s farm women.
Andrea Gal
Andrea Gal is the Chair of Farm Management Canada, a national organization that champions farm management excellence. She is also a Consultant at Wilton Consulting Group, which focuses on facilitating sustainability and innovation in the agri-food industry and rural communities. Andrea manages her family farm in Oxford County. The business includes cash crop and cow-calf operations, as well as seed and fertilizer dealerships. She holds a PhD in History from Wilfrid Laurier University with a focus on rural Ontario.
