After a successful launch year in 2020, the agricultural publications at Annex Business Media have once again teamed up to highlight some of the strongest female leaders in the ag industry through the Influential Women in Canadian Agriculture (IWCA) program.

The program was created in 2020 in an effort to recognize the crucial and evolving role of women in agriculture, from farming to research, to community outreach, technology and more. As an influential voice in Canadian agriculture, it is our duty to ensure that their work never goes unrecognized.

This year, the team will highlight six women from across various disciplines in agriculture and share their stories, achievements, challenges and wisdom through our brands: Top Crop Manager, Potatoes in Canada, Canadian Poultry, Manure Manager and Fruit & Vegetable.

“We were blown away by the incredible nominations we received for the 2020 IWCA program, representing women from all sectors of Canadian agriculture,” says Stefanie Croley, Editorial Director, Agriculture, at Annex Business Media. “We know the role of women in agriculture has evolved over the years, but there are more female trailblazers in agriculture than ever before, and the IWCA program was designed to celebrate and honour their achievements.”

Besides a podcast series highlighting the honourees, this year’s program will also include a digital edition sharing their stories and offering more content to connect women in the industry. The entire program will culminate on Oct. 19 with the IWCA Summit, a half-day, virtual event where our Influential Women in Canadian Agriculture will share advice and experience to their fellow women in ag.

“Women throughout Canadian Agriculture are doing remarkable things! IWCA helps to bring the industry together to support those achievements and learn from defining moments of courage and strength during their journey in Ag, therefore adding value to the industry,” adds Michelle Allison, Publisher at Annex Business Media.

“The 2020 IWCA Summit was an inspirational half-day virtual event that focused around real conversation and the sharing of advice and wisdom from women in ag, to women in ag,” Croley adds. “We are thrilled to continue this program in 2021, further promoting the important contributions women bring to Canada’s agriculture industry.”

Nominations are now open and will be accepted until March 26.
